Hi! I'm Sydnie
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker & Independent Mental Health Practitioner.
I specialize in treating anxiety, OCD and related disorders. I also have experience supporting clients navigating grief, healing from trauma, and building self-esteem.
I combine evidence-based treatment with a deep understanding of how hard it can feel to be stuck.
From OCD sufferer to OCD specialist, I've experienced what freedom can look like and you can too.
My Approach to Treatment
How I Understand OCD
I treat OCD as an overactive 'alarm system' that misidentifies uncertainty, discomfort, or intrusive thoughts as genuine danger. Together, we will look closely at your specific patterns that are keeping the alarm activated.
— Obsessions: The intrusive thoughts, images, or urges that trigger distress.
— Distress: The spike in anxiety or uncomfortable emotions/sensations.
— Compulsions: The mental or physical actions taken to neutralize or fix the feeling.
— Temporary Relief: The short-term calm that reinforces the cycle.
How Treatment Works
Treatment will be active and goal-oriented. We move from fighting your thoughts to changing your relationship with them. By understanding the cycle that keeps you stuck, we can interrupt it and move towards a life guided by what is important to you.
What Makes My Approach Different
I have both lived and clinical experience with OCD, including “taboo” themes. I understand how convincing, urgent, and isolating OCD can feel.
My approach is compassionate and direct. We won’t shame or argue with your thoughts, but we also won’t let OCD run your life. Instead, we’ll look closely at the patterns that are maintaining the cycle and build new ways of responding that align with your values rather than fear.
"You will be free once you realize the cage is made of thoughts."
Impactful growth. Authentic support. Meaningful change.
